Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a single-zone or dual-zone temperature controller?
A single-zone controller adjusts all connected gear together, which is simplest if you run one garment or want everything at the same level. A dual-zone controller sets two groups independently — for example gloves hotter than your jacket. Choose dual-zone if you run multiple garments that need different heat.
What is a Y-harness and do I need one?
A Y-harness splits power so you can run two heated garments from one connection — for example a jacket liner and pants, or both gloves. You need one whenever you want to power more than a single garment at once from your 12V system. It's a core part of building a multi-piece heated setup.
How does the battery harness connect to my motorcycle?
The fused battery harness attaches directly to your motorcycle's battery terminals and routes a connector out to where you'll plug in your gear. It installs once and stays on the bike, with the fuse protecting the circuit. From there you connect your controller and garments each time you ride.
Are Gerbing accessories compatible with my existing Gerbing gear?
Yes. Gerbing's 12V controllers, harnesses, Y-cables, and extensions use a consistent coax connector standard across the line, so they work with Gerbing 12V garments. If you're adding to an older setup, check the connector type on your current gear, and reach out if you're unsure which adapter or cable you need.
